Custom Carrier logos on the new 2.0 FW
If you want to do it yourself:
Basically all you need to do is replace the logos in /var/mobile/Library/Carrier Bundle.bundle
Okay so what you need:
* iPhone 2.0 Jailbroken with SSH installed and running on one of the Telstra, Vodafone or Optus(or virgin) as this uses the existing carrierbundles, I believe those on three should be able to use my old guide for the 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 firmware. (SSH can be installed via Cydia)
* Cyberduck, or some other program that does SFTP (winSCP for windows guys)
* some logo’s you’ve prepared earlier! Must be 49×20 pixels in png format
Templates for the logos:
Step 1: Settings > General > Auto-Lock – Never
Step 2: Open cyberduck and connect to your phone – making sure to choose the SFTP protocol, entering root as the username and the phone’s root password (the default is alpine)
Step 2: Click on the address bar (it’ll say “/private/var/root") and choose /
Step 3: Browse to /var/mobile/Library/Carrier Bundle.bundle/
Step 4: Replace the existing .png files with your own ones making sure that the filenames you’ve used are identical so that the bundle will pick it up.
Step 5: Restart your phone (hold down the sleep/wake button, slide to power off and then power it back up again)
Once your done I’d recommend ununstalling SSH as you won’t need it again and it chews battery, and that’s the only way to disable it at the moment.
You need to ssh into your iphone then
either make itunes think yours is O2 UK by copying the info.plist from
‘/System/Library/Carrier Bundles/O2_UK.bundle/’ to
or make it T-mobile Germany by copying all the files from
‘/System/Library/Carrier Bundles/TMobile_Germany.bundle/’ to
check MCC/MNC number.
